Today was a watershed moment in our efforts as we officially voted to form Classically Formed Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding access to classical education in Oklahoma. Well beyond our initial ambition of starting a single classical charter school in Northeastern Oklahoma, we have now set our sights on the state as a whole and have declared that our mission is to form schools that form the hearts and minds of Oklahoma students.

Classically Formed is a combination of two distinct efforts which were occurring simultaneously across Northeastern Oklahoma. There has always been some overlap of these two groups and we have been supporting one another and trying to determine which group had the most likely chance of success. Ultimately, we decided that we were more likely to succeed together and thus decided to join forces.

Representatives of each group have joined the board of Classically Formed Inc. and will drive the effort forward as we prepare two Barney Charter School Initiative applications which will be submitted to BCSI this July. We will lean upon their wisdom and experience in selecting the ideal location for Oklahoma’s first classical charter school.
