The History of the Barney Charter School Initiative – Atlanta Classical Academy

Yesterday in our survey of the history of BCSI, we highlighted Founders Classical Academy – Bentonville. Today we’re heading south to Atlanta Classical Academy.

Atlanta Classical Academy opened in 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia. It has 686 students with a waitlist representing 1,200! Clearly, they could use a bigger building! ACA opened the same year as Founders Classical Academy of Las Vegas opened the same year.

One of the things that impressed us about BCSI was the diversity of schools–suburban schools in large metro areas, urban schools in the heart of major cities, and rural schools serving small population centers. It proves classical education works everywhere and is accessible to every student.

Mr. Ronald Garcia, Headmaster

Mr. Garcia started his teaching career in Glendale, Arizona at Great Hearts, the nation’s most prominent and successful network of classical charter schools. He then served as Dean of Students and taught Ancient and Medieval History at Great Hearts Cicero Preparatory Academy.
