Help us STAND IN THE GAP to make tuition-free classical education available in Oklahoma!
As 2021 comes to an end, we want to take a moment to thank you for all your kindness and support. To this day, we have over 700 intent to enroll forms representing over 400 families. We take heart in knowing there are so many families pursuing the very thing we dream of making possible in Oklahoma, a tuition-free classical education committed to teaching what is true, good, and beautiful.
We are writing to make you more fully aware of the daunting task we have in the months ahead and to ask for your help. We wanted to help educate our supporters regarding charter school funding, expenses related to start-up, and how you can help.
FUNDING
We will receive state funding once we open. However, there are many required expenses BEFORE that funding begins. In April 2021, we were awarded the Charter School Program (CSP) grant by the Oklahoma Public School Resource Center (OPSRC). This was a great provision. The unplanned delay in our start date created a required pause on the CSP grant funding until December 2022. This creates a GAP between our funding and our current required expenses. This funding gap can be filled with private donations, foundation funding, grants, and public aid. We can assure you that we are pursuing every opportunity that we qualify for, but those are few and far between in a competitive funding landscape.
EXPENSES
To prepare for a Fall 2023 opening we have three major categories of expenses: facility-related expenses ($85,000), staff payroll expenses ($50,000), and legal/administrative/marketing expenses ($50,000). This puts our current financial need close to $200,000.
AN INVITATION TO HELP!
Creating an opportunity for Oklahoma students to receive a tuition-free classical education comes at great cost and we need your financial support. Will you consider how your family can help us fund the gap so that we can continue to move forward in the pursuit of our goal to bring this option to Oklahomans? Here are some giving options to consider:
• Give a one-time gift before December 31, 2021
• Make a monthly pledge to give until our CSP Grant funding starts again in December 2022.
• Give a one-time gift in 2021 and pledge a one-time gift for 2022.
We look ahead with great hope that the story of Tulsa Classical Academy has many more chapters to be written. The story ahead will take courage, commitment, and community.
