Mr. Tyson

5th Grade Teacher

  • B.A. English Literature | University of Oklahoma

Mr. Tyson is excited to be teaching 5th grade at Tulsa Classical Academy. Before moving overseas, he taught for six years at Imago Dei Academy, a classical Christian school in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He is passionate about helping to educate the next generation of young people and considers it a great privilege to be a teacher. He is particularly excited about the emphasis on truth, virtue, and beauty at Tulsa Classical Academy, believing that education is so much more than the mere transfer of facts.

Mr. Tyson is married and has six children, ranging in age from 5 to 21. He and his family were missionaries in Thailand for eight years before relocating to Tulsa, where his wife’s family is from. He enjoys reading great books, playing most sports, hiking, camping, and spending time with his kids. A fun fact about Mr. Tyson is that he is from New Mexico and had desert pets as a kid: a lizard, a scorpion, a tarantula, a vinegaroon, and a snake. Mr. Tyson is grateful for the privilege of partnering with parents to help educate their children. Teaching is a sacred trust, and it is a great joy to be a part of helping young people to walk in the truth, to love what is beautiful, and to live virtuous and faithful lives.
