“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book!"

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Mrs. Shields

Upper School Teacher

  • BA Education, Oklahoma Baptist University

Mrs. Shields teaches literature in TCA’s upper school. She joins our faculty from a private Christian classical school in Wheaton, Illinois. Before living in the Chicago area, Mrs. Shields taught middle school language arts in Beijing, China. She has over ten years of experience in education and this is her fifth year in a classical school. Mrs. Shields is excited to join the Hillsdale mission and to discover the good, true, and beautiful with her students at TCA.

Mrs. Shields grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She got her bachelors in Education from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. It was there she discovered a love for cross-cultural teaching and moved to Beijing shortly after graduating. While living in Beijing, she met Mr. Shields. They have now been married for twelve years and have three lovely children: Calvin, Elizabeth, and Ezekiel.

The Shields family is glad to return to the Tulsa area. They enjoy kayaking, reading good books, and hanging out together. Mrs. Shields still loves teaching ESL in ministry capacities.
