  • Mild Moderate Special Education Teaching Certification/ OSDE, Northeastern State  University

  • B.S. Journalism, Oklahoma State University

Mrs. Carnes is the special education teacher for Tulsa Classical  Academy.  She grew up attending Tulsa Public Schools prior to receiving her B.S. degree in Journalism from Oklahoma State University. She changed careers to education eight years ago to help fill the desperate need for special education teachers, beginning as a paraprofessional for two years at Jenks and has taught for six years at the elementary school level for TPS.

She has three daughters and six grandchildren that she enjoys spending time with when not teaching, traveling, hanging out with friends, or home with her husband, three dogs, and one cat.  She and her husband are very involved in the Tulsa Community and believe strongly in the importance of education for our future generations.  They also together serve as deacons at their church.

Mrs. Carnes has a true passion for working with students with special needs and their families. She loves the like minded principles and values TCA is based upon and is honored to be a part of Tulsa Classical Academy serving the students in its community.
